An Opulence member had recently been busy all weekend... but he’d promised his son that he’d take him to a sports store for new cricket gear.
So he did what he always did – told his son they’d have to do it next weekend instead.
What his son said next nearly broke his heart...
“Dad, you never keep your promises.”
As his son started walking away, the reality check hit like a hard slap in the face.
The guy jumped in the car, went to the store, bought the gear, and within half an hour was back and ready to play.
It was the first time in a long time he put his family first, and not his business.
And damn it felt GOOD.
After an hour of playing with his kid, he smashed out 4 hours of the most focused work he’s done in months.
That day marked a new beginning for him... a beginning of keeping promises to the important people in his life, instead of sacrificing everything (including them) to feed his ever-hungry business.
When he shared this story in our Inner Circle, there wasn’t a dry eye in the group!
Now, am I telling you to neglect your responsibilities and become a party animal?
Of course not.
As you’ve been following The Game Changers, you’ll know that our approach to business is DIFFERENT.
We believe that business should support your ideal lifestyle - not eat you alive.
We believe that all the parts of your life should be in balance, with plenty of time for work, play, health, relationships, and all of the things that make up a full and happy life.
In the words of Ferris Bueller (any other 80s kids here?)...
Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
Every day of your life is a day you’ll never get back.
You’ll never again be as young as you are today.
Your kids will never again be toddlers / teens / babies...
These are the days you’ll look back on in the future with nostalgia.
When you look back to this time in the future, what will you see??
So play with your kid.
Have date night with your partner.
Take your friends out to lunch.
Keep the promises you make to the important people in your life.
And if you are seriously so ‘busy’ that you cannot find even 5 minutes to spend on your family/yourself... get in touch with me. We need to sort that out – fast.
