Our Business Intensive events are a great opportunity for our clients to come together for a few days of accelerated learning.
As a small business coach, it’s really rewarding for me to see all of the connections that are built between Opulence members as they get to know each other too. Business doesn’t happen in a vacuum, and most problems business owners face have happened to someone else… and when we all learn together, we learn better.
At our recent Business Intensive event, we caught up with a couple of new Opulence members to get their in-person feedback on how their small business coaching journey was going.
Peter Laidlaw and Georgie Brooke are both veteran business owners, with a combined 20+ years’ business experience between them.
Their businesses were successful, but a series of recent events revealed how incredibly vulnerable they actually were.
The Problem Peter & Georgie Faced
Peter and Georgie’s businesses were different… but the problems that had recently given their businesses a hard knock were similar.
Peter’s communications business, Lighthouse Communications, had a successful 10 year history. But they relied on a few big clients for most of their income… and when one of those big clients left them, suddenly there was a major hole to fill.
For Georgie, things looked a little bit different. Despite being a strong player in the big data space with his business Greater Data, shifts in the marketplace meant that advertising was getting more expensive. As a result, staying competitive meant spending more, which in turn equalled shrinking margins and a tighter belt.
They knew the solution was out there, and that they needed to seek it outside of themselves.
How Peter and Georgie Found A Solution Through A Small Business Coach
At first, Peter and Georgie were pretty skeptical about hiring a small business coach. Peter in particular had hired many business coaches throughout his years in business… but they never really delivered tangible results.
He always walked away with great ideas, but no implementation. So as a result, there was no ROI on his investment (because simply feeling good isn’t a measurable KPI 😉). Instead, Peter would simply get swept up in the day-to-day of his business again, and all the great ideas he’d gained through his coaching session would fade into obscurity.
So it was a pleasant surprise for Peter to find himself at the end of the first day of the Business Intensive with an action plan for moving the needle in his business that was both achievable and measurable.
For Georgie, the situation was very similar. Frustrated by ‘all talk no action’ small business coaching, Georgie quickly connected with The Game Changers’ focus on building easily implementable actions into his business. What he found especially valuable was the newfound camaraderie with Peter who was a natural connection both personally and professionally.
What The Game Changers Can Do For Your Business
Running a business can be a lonely and confusing road when going it alone. The Game Changers’ Opulence program changes that by offering more than small business coaching - community.
Our community works because we’ve got a family-like structure - everyone helps and supports each other for the good of the entire group. Not in a ‘sitting around a campfire singing kumbaya’ kind of way, but in a practical way that everyone benefits from.
As the saying goes, ‘two heads are better than one’, and so it stands to reason that a room full of engaged and like-minded business owners is a resource that’s almost as important and powerful as The Game Changers’ business training itself.
Accountability, knowledge, support, advancement… our community is the engine that keeps it all flowing for the good of us all.
