Aah, the New Year.
It’s filled with so many possibilities.
Clean slate. Blank canvas.
This year is going to be your best year ever, right?
But wait… isn’t that what you said about last year? And did it come true?
If you achieved scalable, G-force inducing growth last year, congratulations!
But if you’re like many business owners, maybe last year wasn’t *that* much more spectacular than the one before.
Maybe you didn’t crack through that glass ceiling you’ve been squashed under for a while now.
Look, that’s okay… because this is the time to turn this year into your best one yet.
Here’s how to make sure your 2020 goes off like a drunk firecracker.
1) Spend at least 10 hours this week on business planning.
Often we get so caught up in our business fighting fires day-to-day, that we don’t look far enough into the future.
So you might be coming into the New Year in a sales slump. You might be faced with lots of staff holiday pay to take care of, even though they haven’t been at work and generating cash flow.
Ideally you would have started planning for this 3 months prior to now. (If you didn’t, go set a reminder in your calendar for later this year, so you’re not caught out again.)
But now that the year has begun, it’s still not too late to invest your time and energy into structured planning that sets you up for success.
Note that I say ‘structured’... because a goal without actionable steps to reach it is just a dream.
And non-structured planning (or no planning at all) will keep you completely REACTIVE in your business. That is, completely at the mercy of the run-away horse.
Many years ago, I was super-reactive in my business.
I played the short-term game. Focused on only a few steps ahead. Spent way too much time dealing with problems in the moment, instead of solving them before they even popped up.
Basically, I created way more stress for myself than I needed to.
These days I play the game on a month-to-month, year-to-year, decade-to-decade basis.
When you get yourself in the position to start playing a long term game, business becomes a lot less emotionally draining, and a lot more prosperous and fun.
But you don’t get to play the long term game by only focusing on your next 3 or 4 steps.
2) Upgrade your perception of what’s possible
This relates to what is the #1 factor in your business success - your inner game.
Before Opulence members start working with us, many of them think that this mindset stuff is a bit silly. A bit woo-woo, or whatever.
But a few months in and they start seeing their business changing in remarkable ways… while all that has changed is their mindset.
I’m serious - we haven’t even worked on the strategy stuff yet at that stage.
Believe me, your inner-game is all-powerful.
Lots of business owners have beliefs about the December / January period.
They think ‘oh, that time of year is always crap for us. Businesses close down, people go away, nobody wants to spend money on my type of service.’
Let me say this with love: That’s a crazy belief.
If you choose to see it that way… that’s the way it’s going to be.
Last year, January was a ridiculously busy time for The Game Changers.
We brought on a lot of new clients. We hired a bunch of new staff. It was awesome. And I know it will be again this year too.

So take some time to work on your inner game at the beginning of the year too.
