Have you ever considered a business coach, and then thought - ‘but what’s the actual ROI on that’?
I get your suspicion. And I sincerely do hope you consider the ROI question - because if you’re not getting a return on your investment, what’s the point right?
With that in mind, I’d like to introduce you to a client of The Game Changers, Peter Laidlaw.
Peter is the managing director of Lighthouse Communications group, a corporate communications strategy firm.
He’s a member of our high-end coaching group: Boardroom.
Boardroom members are typically in charge of large 8-figure businesses. The CEOs in the program have covered a lot of the groundwork in getting their business profitable… and they’re looking for ways to do things better.
Being the smart folk they are, Boardroom members know that the best way to accelerate your knowledge - and your progress - is by learning from people at your level and above.
Bottom line: Peter pays handsomely for his Boardroom membership. And he’s smart enough that he’s not sticking around unless he’s getting a good return on his investment.
Let’s hear what Peter had to say about his experience with The Game Changers.
Why did you join The Game Changers?
When I joined a few years ago, I was going through a really tough time in business. I’d just lost a major client that attributed to nearly 50% of my revenue. I had to restructure my entire business to survive.
Personally, I was really unhappy. Unhappy with my business, and unhappy with my life. Putting it mildly, I needed a kick in the behind to get myself going again!
What’s the best thing about being in Boardroom?
Boardroom takes it to the next level in terms of tactical approaches to business. As part of the program, we look at the best practices to allow our business to scale up in the right ways.
We look at financials, marketing, sales, team and all the elements you would expect. But even more than that, we look at the habits within ourselves that cause us to get the results we do. Successfully directing an 8-figure company takes a certain set of skills that are almost the opposite of the skills learned to get to the 8 figure mark.
So it’s really important to re-learn our skills for success.
What results are you getting with the program?
Thanks to the learnings I’m taking on board with Boardroom, I’m seeing my business grow each quarter. In fact, this quarter I’m on track to have the best revenue for some time.
I’ve got much better structures and processes in place. Most importantly, I’ve got a clear line of sight to where the business is headed over the next year.
In a nutshell, we’re getting 30% growth.
What hesitations did you have before joining?
Look, I’d experienced a fair bit of business coaching before. But I always felt that they didn’t really have an understanding about my business. There was a lot of talk, but nothing that was really going to create results and growth.
Boardroom has been completely different - very soon after I joined, I noticed that positive changes were already happening. So I’m happy.
What advice would you give to someone considering Boardroom?
Boardroom is for business owners that want to reach that next level in their growth. It’s for people looking to scale their business up, and also for those who are wanting to exit their business, and need to get it to a stage where it’s sellable and attractive to potential buyers or investors.
