Self-sabotaging behaviours can deter us from our goals. In business this can actually prevent us from gaining the success we deserve. At our heart we are here to fulfill our truest potential and live the life of our wildest dreams.
Barry Magliarditi, founder and CEO of The Game Changers, has helped many, both his personal clients and larger audiences, work through their unconscious self-destructive behaviours that can hold them back. Moving to a place that is freer, with greater choice, alignment and possibility. Here are Barry’s top five ways to stop self-sabotaging your entrepreneurial success:
- Set business values and align with them Practice what you preach.
It’s easier said than done. It’s important to set values for your business, but even more important to take stock of the example you’re setting. Our values become meaningless if we’re not putting them into practise.
- Set boundaries and stick to them. Your business should align with your life goals.
Never forget why you started your venture in the first place and understand what sort of work/life balance you really want. Many entrepreneurs struggle to switch off, so make sure you set personal time for yourself and learn how to switch off. When is the last time you took a break to refresh? Is travel a priority and does your business reflect that priority? Do you need to spend time with your family? Is it important to leave the office everyday by 4pm to pick up the kids? Allow those goals to shine through and stick to them.
- Have unshakable self-worth Going into business can bring your feelings of self-worth to the surface. Don’t ever let your personal fears cloud your business judgement. People generally do want you to excel, so be open and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Embrace rejection as it will give you an unshakable confidence and ability to conquer any obstacle that might get in your way.
- Set regular goals and stay accountable to them.
Make sure you set regular and attainable goals. Be sure to break down targets into monthly, weekly, and even daily action plans. To stay accountable to them create a daily to-do list and diarise tasks. Make sure you plan for the week ahead on a Sunday evening to be well prepared. Concentrate on the tasks first that are most important and are most focused on earning money and growing your business.
- Always be one step ahead. Business is like chess - you should always be three to four moves ahead.
Be prepared for every new venture and move that you make. For example, make sure that before launching a new idea you have mapped out how to execute it.
Are you looking to create alignment in your life and business? Or are you ready to create a 90-day plan that maps out every action and step along the way to achieve your goals and greater success?
