One of my favourite sayings is -
We never have a business problem. We we only ever have personal problems that get expressed through business.
Life is always reflecting things to us that are inside…
Things that are unresolved, things that are limiting our growth, and things that need attention.
Have you ever gotten into the same shitty situation twice (or more)?
Getting stuck with a non-paying client (again).
Realising the guy you just hired is actually not a great fit for the job.
Vowing to not work this weekend… but ending up on your computer instead of out with your family. Again.
Life keeps giving us what we ask for.
And sometimes the shitty patterns we keep repeating are simply the result of the thoughts and beliefs we hold deep down.
If we have unconscious negative beliefs around money, we’ll always struggle to make ends meet.
If we secretly believe that loving our family means working hard to provide for them, we’ll keep creating situations where we have to work on weekends.
If deep down we think that our success is just a fluke, we’ll always find reasons to limit our business growth so we don’t get ‘found out’.
The thing is, you can make a million plans and promises, but if your inner emotional side isn’t aligned with what your mouth is saying… you won’t progress.
Case in point -
The other day I was holding a Hot Seat session with one of our Opulence clients. (We do these monthly so our members can learn from each other)
Six months ago this member was burning out. She knew she didn’t want to work so hard any more, but also found she couldn’t let go of having to do everything in her business.
As part of the mindset work she was doing with us, she soon realised why…
Because she was getting her sense of worth as a person from her work.
Deep down, she didn’t believe she deserved the business, the clients, the money… so she kept working harder to prove herself.
And her business kept giving her what she really wanted.
Every time she went to step back, something would go wrong and the business would ‘need’ her to step in and fix it.
Truth is, she is the one who really needed to step in, Superwoman cape flying, and prove her worth.
If you’re feeling a twinge of realisation as you’re reading this… you’re not alone.
We all have beliefs that are holding us back.
Our minds kind of operate in light and shadow…
There’s the bright side of our conscious mind. That’s all the things you think logically to be true.
Then there’s the shadow side. That’s your unconscious belief system… and it’s the side that’s actually at the steering wheel.
We are constantly unconsciously looking for experiences that will validate our beliefs about our identity.
So everything is a mirror. Sometimes it shows us what we’re doing well. And sometimes it shows us what we need to work on.
The more we can take note of what life’s reflecting back at us, and focus on the lessons its trying to teach us, the better we will grow. And the more we grow, the more our business can grow too.
Think about the challenges and problems you’ve experienced in the last year.
What patterns do you see?
What is life reflecting back at you?
