If you’re an 80s movie buff like me, you’ve probably seen the classic Tom Hanks movie, BIG.
I watched it again last Sunday while hanging out with my boys.
What struck me about the movie:
- Big pianos are awesome
- I want a New York apartment filled with games
- Everyone should let their inner kid play - often!
But what really struck me more than anything else?
That it was probably my first lesson in business… without me even realising it.
How’s that, you say?
Well, for those of you who have never seen BIG:
The movie is about a pre-teen boy who’s sick of having to do kid chores and live at the mercy of adults who call the shots. So he makes a wish on a creepy fortune-telling machine to be ‘big’. The next day, full-size Tom Hanks springs from bed and hilarity ensues as he grapples with the realities of being an adult.
At the movie’s final ‘coming full circle’ moment, Tom finds the Zoltar machine again, and wishes for things to go back to pre-teen normal.
Because the big kid realised that he wasn’t ready for adulthood yet.
He needed to go through being a kid first. Which means learning, growing, screwing up, trying again, succeeding, changing, and the rest.
In short: He needed to grow into an adult. Not just magic his way there overnight.
Just like there are no shortcuts to becoming a 7+ figure business owner.
Becoming successful in business means continually evolving into the person the business needs you to be.
A 7-figure business owner has a different mindset and skillset than someone pushing 5 figures.
Likewise, the mindset and skillset of an 8-figure business owner is far different again.
Every ‘level’ you hit in business requires you to evolve into a person that can solve a different set of problems.
There’s no leap-frog. No magic pill.
Just consistent dedication and commitment to being better than you were the day before.
Now, working with coaches and mentors can help you evolve your mindset and skillset faster (and get side-tracked far less) than if you walked the path alone…
But you’ve got to do the work on your inner game (mindset) and outer game (skillset) yourself.
That means -
- Aligning your mindset for success
- Learning how to train and retain a top performing team
- Building a company culture that creates raving fans
- Creating sustainable systems that are built to scale
- Implementing lead generation funnels you can rely on
- Employing sales processes that close up to 89% (like we do)
If you want to make 2020 the year you’ll always remember as ‘that was the year my business really took off’... let’s have a conversation about making that a reality.
Our Opulence system is a blueprint for rapid - and sustainable - scaling, so you can earn more, work less, and actually enjoy running your business again.
I don’t know if you’d be a fit for the program (we don’t invite people we can’t help).
But I’m keen to find out.
