Positive thinking alone won’t work.
Yes, even despite all the ‘inspiration porn’ you see on your Facebook feed
Every positive thought, breakthrough or epiphany needs to be combined with action.
And that action needs to be in alignment with your new way of thinking.
Thoughts are great... but unless you don’t take action on them – and quickly – nothing’s
actually going to change.
To have your positive or inspirational thought make a REAL difference in your life, you need
to embody that new thought pattern or belief on a cellular level. That involves acting it out.
Otherwise it’s merely a thought.
I firmly believe in this construct –
Thoughts become beliefs, beliefs become actions, and actions become results.
When your results aren’t the desired outcome of your thoughts or actions... it’s time to go
back and find where things weren’t aligned well enough to produce the result you want.
That’s why a feedback loop is so important in everything you do.
I’m talking in business, in your relationships, in your fitness, in your mindset... EVERYTHING.
If your results aren’t what you want, recalibrate.
Start at your thought level. Then look at your belief level, which will in turn alter your action.
Keep doing this until you master the process of refining to get results.
Most people go about this the opposite way.
They get a result, they focus on it not being what they want, and give up on the whole
process... instead of looking at it as feedback.
There is no failure. Only feedback. Edison is quoted for saying he found 10,000 ways that the
lightbulb wouldn’t work.
The thing is, our brain is always trying to do what’s best for us.
But it can only go off the information we feed it.
So by embedding actions behind our positive thoughts, we’re essentially training our minds
that this is the new track we want to go on.
We’re consciously shaping how we want to operate as human beings.
To take it one step even further, when we consciously identify the personality traits we
want to embody, and shape our behaviour around those traits, we can change practically
everything about ourselves.
Yes, even the stuff that feels like it’s set in stone.
That’s getting into pretty meta-level human hacking territory.
I might tell you a bit more about that another time...
