Many years ago, I developed my first sales strategy for The Game Changers.
It converted pretty well, so I brought in a small team of sales reps to roll it out on a larger scale.
The thing is, I was converting about 82% of clients using this sales strategy. Where my new reps were converting about 30%.
While the industry told me that a 30% close rate on new sales was actually pretty good, I knew from my own experience that it could be better.
So I spent extensive time with my team, workshopping my strategy against their approach to sales. Everybody’s approach to sales is different - they have a different style, different values, different skills… all these factors can lead to vastly different outcomes.
It was only when we aligned their individual approach with my sales strategy that their close rates skyrocketed like I knew they could.

There’s a concept in NLP called strategy elicitation. Strategy elicitation is a way that you can elicit a strategy of how you do things, how you make decisions, how you react to certain situations… and when you can elicit the strategy you can actually change the outcome. Change your results.
Learning this concept years ago was a big epiphany for me. Especially because at the time, life wasn't going so well for me. And I just couldn't understand why all the results I was getting were so crappy. What I realised was the results that I was getting were actually the successful results of an unhelpful strategy.
So I realised if the results of a strategy are not what I want, I can't change them, they’ve already happened. But what I can change is a strategy and the process that created the result.
